Despite repeated attempts via phone and SMSes, Mr Kumar and his manager (Zenobia) were unavailable for comment.
Mumbai: Is Bollywood’s action hero, Akshay Kumar moving rightwards? Well if some RSS functionaries are to be believed, the actor is in constant touch with some senior RSS leaders.
Recently, when Dattatreya Hosabale, joint general secretary of RSS was in Dombivali, he mentioned to RSS workers that Mr Kumar saw the video of Shiv Shakti Sangam. “Someone showed the video of our Pune programme (Shiv Shakti Sangam) to Akshay Kumar which he liked. He wants to know more about the RSS. Even Mr Ratan Tata visited our headquarters in Nagpur,” said Mr Hosabale, adding, “But what I say is in reference of people who are taking interest in RSS works.” However, Mr Hosabale, quickly clarified that till date, Mr Kumar has not taken part in any RSS function in the state or anywhere else.
Despite repeated attempts via phone and SMSes, Mr Kumar and his manager (Zenobia) were unavailable for comment.
A senior RSS functionary confirmed that Mr Kumar has shown keen interest in some of their projects, particularly the water conservation project. Mumbai-based RSS spokesperson Pramod Bapat said, “There are RSS workers who are in touch with eminent people. Akshay has enquired a lot about the water conservation programme carried out by us in Maharashtra, He has contributed money for the martyrs and does a lot of nationalistic work on his own.”
