Woman kills lover's child as a revenge, arrested
The women had undergone abortion twice and wanted to marry victim's father. The father however refused to tie a knot.
Mumbai: The Palghar police has arrested a woman in Nalasopra who allegedly kidnapped a six-year-old girl last week then strangled her and abandoned the body at a public toilet in Gujarat. The woman was allegedly involved in a relationship with the deceased’s father and had hatched the plot to abduct and kill his daughter to take revenge against him, the police said.
The accused had allegedly undergone abortion twice and wanted to marry the victim’s father but the latter had refused, as a result of which she wanted to take the revenge.
The accused was identified as Anita Waghela (21), a resident of Nalasopara. The probe also revealed that the woman had been having a love affair with Santosh Saroj and had even undergone abortion twice. This and his refusal to tie knot with her made her hatch plan to kill his daughter Anjali Saroj, officials said.
Anjali was found strangled to death inside the public toilet at Navsari station in Gujarat on Tuesday following her abduction on Saturday. The investigators got a crucial clue from informers that the girl’s father Santosh Saroj had a paramour who could be the woman.
“The same was substantiated after the missing girl’s grandfather told us that the same woman was seen distributing chocolates to children who were playing with Anjali,” said Hemant Katkar, Palghar police PRO.
A team of Palghar police tracked her down in Nalasopara late on Tuesday.
She revealed to the police that she held Anjali responsible for her father not marrying her. She travelled with the girl to the Navasari via train and after alighting, took her to a public toilet where she strangled her and fled from there.
The officials have secured her police custody for further investigation in the murder case. The police is also ascertaining if someone else was involved in the murder.
