ACP Shyam Nipunge's bail plea rejected
According to complaint Pawar committed suicide due to mental and physical harassment by Paphale over Nipunge's frequent calls to her.
Mumbai: A Thane session court has rejected the bail application filed by suspended assistant commissioner of police (ACP) Shyam Nipunge who has been arrested for allegedly driving a 24-year-old female police constable Subhadra Pawar to commit suicide last year.
The prosecution case is that Pawar, attached to the police headquarters in Thane Commissionerate, was found hanging from a ceiling fan of her flat in Kalwa on September 6, 2017. There was no suicide note found but later Pawar’s brother Sujit filed a complaint against her sister’s fiancé Amol Paphale, a constable of the Mumbai police. According to complaint Pawar committed suicide due to mental and physical harassment by Paphale over Nipunge’s frequent calls to her. The police had booked Nipunge too in the case later.
