Court acquits married woman, lover in murder of ex-boyfriend
Patil spilled the beans on interrogation and said that More was in a relationship with both Achrekar and him.
Mumbai: The Sessions Court has acquitted six persons, including a married woman and her alleged lover, of the charges of killing her former boyfriend. The court acquitted all the accused as there were no eyewitnesses in the case, and the prosecution was unable to prove the chain of evidence beyond reasonable doubt.
The prosecution’s case was that on August 23, 2014, the victim’s brother, Vishal Achrekar, informed Dongri police station that his brother Vaibhav (31), was missing since August 21.
After registering a missing complaint report, the police spoke to some of the victim’s relatives and discovered that he was involved with a married woman, Jyotsana More. The cops then collected the Call Data Record (CDR) of both and found that one Prakash Patil was also continuously in touch with More.
Patil spilled the beans on interrogation and said that More was in a relationship with both Achrekar and him.
But she wanted to get rid of Achrekar as he was forcing her to have a physical relation. Hence, they planned to killed him. On August 20, More asked Achrekar to meet her in Dahisar, where she introduced him to Patil and a friend of his as ‘policemen’. They took him to a flat in Naigaon, where he was assaulted and then strangled. They disposed of the body in the Hath River in Manor area.
It was found on August 22, entangled in a fishing net. Judge H S Mahajan acquitted all the accused.
