90.25per cent Maha girls clear HSC exam

Mumbai: Female students in Maharashtra have made the state proud, securing a passing percentage of 90.25 in the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examination of 2019 conducted by the state board. So much so that girls have outperformed boys who have recorded a passing percentage of 82.40 in the Class 12 examinations in Maharashtra.

The results of the HSC exams for the academic year 2018-19 were declared Tuesday by the Maharashtra State Board for Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE).

The total passing percentage stands at 85.88 this year, announced board chairperson Shakuntala Kale. The Konkan division has recorded the highest passing percentage at 93.23.

“This year, science students recorded the highest percentage. The results are also available on the official website from where students can take a print out,” said a MSBSHSE official.

A total of 1423,503 students registered for the exam, out of which 1421,936 students appeared, and 1221,159 out of the 1421,936 passed.

After the Konkan region, Pune recorded the second highest passing percentage at  87.88; followed by Amravati at 87.55; Aurangabad at 87.29; Kolhapur at 87.12; Latur at 86.08; Nashik at 84.77; Mumbai at 83.85; and Nagpur at 82.51. While the passing percentage for the science stream stood at 92.60, the passing percentage for the arts, commerce and vocational streams was 76.45, 88.28 and 78.93, respectively.

The overall passing percentage this year was less than the last two years. For the academic year 2017-2018, the state board recorded a passing percentage of 88.41 in the SSC examination while the overall passing percentage in 2017 was 89.50.
