Mumbai: More than a month after two minor boys in Powai allegedly committed suicide by consuming poison, the probe into the suicides has hit a dead end after no concrete proof was found to identify men who are suspected to have sodomised them, which  could have led to them taking the extreme step.

The Powai police even exhumed the body of the 10-year-old boy who died on July 12, but due to absence of substantial evidence, the case has come to a standstill.

Navinchandra Reddy, Deputy Commissioner of Police Zone 10 said, “We have questioned 26 persons so far, including friends of the boys, but they are unsure of the boys' closeness to any other person. We, however, are sure the act could have been committed by a person known to the boys.”

Mr Reddy added, “Since nobody is helping us with getting information, the case is stuck at a point.”
