HC quashes FIR against Anjali Damania
FIR was in response to activist's graft allegations against Eknath Khadse.
Mumbai: The Aurangabad bench of Bombay high court quashed the FIR filed by former minister Eknath Khadse against social activist Anjali Damania. Ms Damania alleged that because she opposed the quashing of FIR filed by the anti-corruption bureau in Pune special court against Mr Khadse, the BJP leader and his supporters filed multiple FIRs against her.
She alleged that some unknown persons had pasted her number in trains, asking people to call her for “Khatti meethi batein”. Meanwhile, Mr Khadse told The Asian Age that he will file the SLP in the Supreme Court.
One Kalpana Inamdar alleged that Ms Damania had asked her to file the complaint against Mr Khadse. After her revelation, Mr Khadse filed a FIR with the police and due to a series of allegations of corruption against Mr Khadse by Ms Damania, many FIRs and cases were filed in the courts.
Ms Damania complained that she received many phone calls from Mr Khadse’s supporters. She challenged a FIR filed by Mr Khadse and Ms Inamdar before the Aurangabad bench of the Bombay high court.
Justice T.V. Nalawade and Justice Vibha Kankan-wadi heard Ms Damania’s application at length and quashed the FIR.
Ms Damania alleged that because she had opposed the closure report filed by the ACB in the Pune court in the FIR registered against Mr Khadse, Mr Khadse and his supporters were filing complaints against her and making phone calls to harass her.
However, Mr Khadse, while refuting allegations, said that the HC quashed the FIR on technical grounds as the police had not send the audio tapes for forensic tests and not carried out any investigations.
He said he would approach the Supreme Court and that there was no substance in Ms Damania’s allegations.
