7 Shiv Sena coporators among top 10
This is Praja's first report card on the current batch of municipal corporators.
Mumbai: The Shiv Sena, the ruling party in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), has fared better among political parties as seven of its corporators have been ranked among the top 10 in the Praja Foundation’s report for the year 2017-18.
The top three performers in the report card are Kishori Pednekar, Shiv Sena (81.59%), Sweta Korgaonkar, Congress (79.22%) and Priti Satam, BJP (79.12%), while the worst performing councillors are Shahnawaz Shaikh, AIMIM (27.80%), Kesharben Patel, BJP (33.19%), and Gulnaz Qureshi, AIMIM (33.56%).
“The top three positions have been attained by women corporators, which is definitely an achievement and a way forward for the city,” said Milind Mhaske, director, Praja Foundation. “It has always been the motto of our party to work for people. The Praja Foundation report has once again proved it,” said Ms Pednekar.
The top three political parties in the report have been Congress (60.69%), BJP (60.31%) and Shiv Sena (60.25%). The bottom three political parties are AIMIM (30.68%), Akhil Bharatiya Sena (47.29%) and Nationalist Congress Party (53.58%).
This is Praja’s first report card on the current batch of municipal corporators.
The report card is an effort towards holding elected representatives accountable by encouraging healthy competition amongst corporators, said Praja Foundation officials.
