Mumbai: Indrani Mukerjea on Friday was shifted to the state-run J.J. Hospital from the Byculla women’s jail after she complained of low blood pressure, hospital authorities said. She was also admitted to hospital last Saturday.
Early in the week and for the fifth time, Indrani was rushed with similar problems to J.J. hospital, but was admitted for a few hours. Doctors kept her under observation for four hours and sent her back to prison. The jail authorities said that she may have to undergo a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) as advised by her doctors. However, Indrani was rushed to J.J. with symptoms of a drug overdose on two occasions, in 2015 and April 2018.
Mukerjea, a main accused in the murder case of her own daughter Sheena Bora. The 46-year-old co-founder of INX media, lodged in Byculla women’s jail, was admitted in the critical care unit (CCU) of the hospital and her condition is now stable, the hospital authorities stated.
Indrani complained of a headache and hypertension (low blood pressure). Dr Wiqar Shaikh, head of the department, said that after examining her, “She was brought to the Medicine Out Patient Department(OPD) unit around noon.”
Medical superintendent Dr Sanjay Surase said, “After initial treatment, she was admitted to the hospital's cardiac care unit in view of hypertension with nuerovascular problem.”
This is her second hospital visit in a span of five days. On Monday, she had complained of restlessness, headache and double vision, Mr Surase said. The former media executive was also hospitalised for treatment of suspected drug overdose in April.
Mukerjea, her former husband Sanjeev Khanna and driver Shyamvar Rai were arrested for the crime which came to light in August 2015. Rai later turned an approver (prosecution witness) in the case. Sheena Bora, Mukerjea’s daughter from an earlier relationship, was killed over a financial dispute, said the CBI which is probing the case.
