Minister Piyush Goyal undergoes endoscopy for kidney stone

Mumbai: Union minister Piyush Goyal is said to have undergone an endoscopy for his kidney stone which was about 4mm, said sources. The minister walked out of a press conference Monday evening, complaining of severe pain in the stomach.

When Mr Goyal began to experience shooting pain, he realised something was amiss, said an official. “The minister was experiencing a lot of pain and initially ignored it but moments before heading to the press conference, the minister said that he was unable to bear the pain.”

MrGoyal was admitted to Breach Candy hospital and is said to have undergone an endoscopy as doctors recommended the procedure be carried out immediately.A source said, “The minister’s itinerary was to take a review meeting Monday night and then a conclave Tuesday afternoon but all that has gone for a toss as he is still in hospital.”

The minister will be kept under observation for one or two days depending on his recovery. Endoscopy is a non-evasive surgery performed on kidney stones that are relatively small in size. The minister is also set to undergo a full body check-up while in hospital as precautionary measure.
