Rajan: Was framed in killing of J. Dey
Special MCOCA Judge Sameer Adkar was questioning Rajan under the section 313 of the CrPC.
Mumbai: Incarcerated gangster Chhota Rajan on Monday told the special Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) court that the police and the politicians, in collusion with don Dawood Ibrahim had implicated him in all his cases. Rajan told this to the court while replying to the questions asked by a special judge in senior journalist J. Dey’s June 2011 murder case, in which he was chargesheeted.
Special MCOCA Judge Sameer Adkar was questioning Rajan under the section 313 of the CrPC. Under this section, the trial judge, based on the witnesses’ statements and evidence put forth by the prosecution, prepares questions and ask them directly to accused and the accused gets a chance to personally explain any circumstances appearing in the evidence against him. The judge, on Monday asked around 460 questions to Rajan, who is lodged at Tihar jail in Delhi, through video conferencing.
Rajan is facing trial for ordering the killing of Dey. For most of the questions, Rajan either replied that it was false or he doesn’t know. After all the questions, when the judge asked him if he wants to say anything about the case he said, “I was with Dawood Ibrahim from 1983 to 1993 and during this period there was not a single case filed against me.”
He further stated, “I separated from Dawood after 1993 serial blasts and gave some information about him to police and he came to know about it. Thereafter, whenever anything (crime) happened, a case was registered against me. Even in cases of fake encounters, my name was involved.”
“I am falsely implicated in cases at the instance of Dawood Ibrahim,” he said. He further denied any role in J. Dey’s murder.
