Government gives relief on penalty to illegal homebuyers
Government had given this relief in the municipal corporation area last year before the election.
Mumbai: The state cabinet has given its nod to the proposal of giving relief to homebuyers living in illegal constructions up to 600 square feet area from the penalty of property tax in the municipal council area. At present, this penalty is double the property tax, which is waived now up to 600 sq feet. This relief was given in the corporation area last year before corporation elections.
For illegal homes, property tax is being charged double. Builders construct homes illegally and abscond. Homebuyers are suffering because of penalty on property tax. Now government had extended the relief to the people of municipal council area who are residing in the illegal homes.
There will not be any penalty charged up to 600 sq feet illegal construction of the home. For the 601-1000 sq feet illegal construction, it would be 50 per cent of the property tax and for more than 1001 sq feet; it would be double the property tax. State cabinet has approved this proposal giving relief to the middle class people who are suffering due to fraud played by the builders.
