Mumbai: The defence lawyer of Indrani Mukerjea, a key accused in the 2012 Sheena Bora murder case, claimed before the trial court that Indrani’s then secretary Kajal Sharma, who is a prosecution witness, had allegedly been cheating her, withdrawing money from her bank accounts by forging her signature.

The lawyer also claimed that Kajal had neither forged Sheena’s signature on the deceased's resignation letter to the firm she had worked, nor on the cancellation of a leave and license agreement. Kajal, meanwhile, denied all the claims and said that she had indeed forged Sheena’s signature but not Indrani’s signature. Kajal, in her testimony, had claimed that she was instructed by Indrani to forge Sheena’s signature on resignation letter and leave and license.

The CBI’s case is that after killing her own daughter Sheena Bora in May 2012 Indrani called her secretary Kajal Sharma from London saying she sent her an e-mail in the form of a resignation letter to Reliance's Mumbai Metro on behalf of Sheena Bora. She then asked Kajal to practice Sheena's signature and sign the resignation letter on behalf of Sheena and forward the same to Reliance, where Sheena was employed as an assistant manager. Similarly Indrani also made Kajal sign on behalf of Sheena on cancellation of a leave and license agreement so that property could be vacated.
