Girl 'raped' by 4 friends in July dies
She returned to Aurangabad but did not tell her parents about the incident.
Mumbai: A 19-year-old girl, who was allegedly raped by four of her friends in Mumbai in the first week of July, died at a state-run hospital in Aurangabad city. According to police, the girl was admitted to hospital on July 25 since then she was battling for life and passed away on Wednesday night.
The officer also said that a team of Mumbai police is reaching Aurangabad. The alleged rape came to light only when the girl complained of pain in private parts on July 24 and was admitted to a private hospital in Aurangabad.
The doctors suspected that she had been raped and informed the police and then she was shifted to the government-run hospital.
As per the complaint filed at Begumpura Police Station in Aurangabad, the girl came to Mumbai on July 7. Four of her friends decided to celebrate her birthday. After cutting the cake, the four had allegedly raped her.
She returned to Aurangabad but did not tell her parents about the incident. Later, when she complained of pain and doctors expressed suspicion that she might have been raped, her parents approached police station and registered FIR.
Thereafter, the case was transferred to Chunabhatti police station of Mumbai. “We are investigating but as of now we haven’t got any leads about the accused,” said an official of Chunabhatti police station.
