Mumbai: After the state education minister Vinod Tawde on Thursday announced about setting two types of question papers for the class 12 Science students of the Maharashtra State Board and Higher Secondary Education (MSBHSE), the parents have raised objection against the decision of the minister. According to them, this step is “discrimination” when all the students should be treated equally.

The two set of question papers is specifically for the students to get an option to choose the old paper pattern or the new one. According to Mr. Tawde, the old one is for the students who want to go for Bachelors in Science (B.Sc) after class 12 and the new one will be for the students to fare better in the competitive examinations like Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) and National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Examination (NEET). This change will be bought only in question papers like Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics as these subjects have a greater part in JEE and NEET.

Sudha Shenoy, a parent stated that this is an injustice decision as, “It is discrimination towards the students who aspire to go for JEE and NEET. Giving them a tougher paper is like them for choosing the competitive examinations after class 12.”

The JEE students have their examination after 15 days of class 12 exams and 30 days for the NEET students. “How will be it possible for the students to prepare themselves after a tough class 12 exam? It will become too much stress for them,” Ms Shenoy added.

Mr. Tawde has suggested this plan of two question papers to the academician and it is said that they will be implementing the plan from March 2019.
