Dalit Panther gives support to Shiv Sena
Ms Dhasal told the media that writer, columnist, Padmashri Namdev Dhasal and Sena Supremo Bal Thackeray were closest friends.
Mumbai: Dalit Panther, Dalit organisation has declared its support to Shiv Sena for the upcoming Lok Sabha election. Mallika Dhasal, daughter of late Namdev Dhasal, met Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray on Saturday. Hundreds of organisation workers had reached at Matoshri in the afternoon to express support to the Sena-BJP allaince.
Ms Dhasal told the media that writer, columnist, Padmashri Namdev Dhasal and Sena Supremo Bal Thackeray were closest friends. Thereafter, Ms Dhasal had also made good relationship with Uddhav.
Dalit Panther was one of the leading Dalit organisations of 1970-80s. It had held several agitations during that period and made major parties to take cognisance of their views. The Sena and Dalit Panther were together for several years, but later due to some political differences both the organisations had been not on good terms.
Sena leader Rahul Shevale, who had taken initiative to bring support of Dalit Panther, said that “I am welcoming step taken by Mallika tai. The power of BJP, Sena and RPI alliance has enhanced due to the support by Panther.”
