Online test soon for hiring teachers in govt-aided schools
Minister Tawde said that henceforth, the government would directly appoint teachers on the basis of merit.
Mumbai: Following complaints regarding recruitment of teachers, the state cabinet on Tuesday passed the decision to hold centralised online exams for the same and not leave it to school management. State education minister Vinod Tawde said that henceforth, the government would directly appoint teachers on the basis of merit and tests would be conducted through a common online test and those selected would be given posting of their choice.
“Based on vacancies, advertisements will be put out. There are total 800 vacant posts for teachers. It has been decided to make direct appointments of teachers on merit basis through online portal via common test for eligible teachers and they would be given choice posting,” the minister told media persons.
Teachers will be recruited in all of the state’s aided, subsidised schools on the basis of qualitative (intellectual) and intelligence test scores. An exam will be conducted where aspirant teachers will have to qualify for recruitment.
While the government’s decision to appoint teachers on the basis of merit comes on the back of complaints about corruption in recruitment of teachers in government-aided schools, the decision is bound to snowball into a political controversy.
