Mumbai: Vishwajeet Kadam, son of former Maharashtra minister and senior Congress leader late Patangrao Kadam, took oath as a member of the Legislative Assembly on May 30.
Speaker Hari Bhau Bagde administered the oath to Kadam at the central hall in Vidhan Bhavan. Congress leaders and former chief ministers Prithviraj Chavan and Ashok Chavan were present on this occasion.
Vishwajeet Kadam was elected unopposed in the by-election from Palus-Kadegaon assembly constituency in Sangli district. The bypoll was necessitated by the death of Patangrao Kadam who had represented the constituency for six terms.
While Congress fielded Vishwajeet, Shiv Sena declared support to him. He was elected unopposed after the BJP withdrew its candidate from the fray.
