AC local train fares to rise as WR withdraws intro offer

The offer had been extended a couple of times in the past and was valid till May 31, 2019.

Mumbai: The fares of AC local trains on Western Railway will be increased as the Ministry of Railways has now decided to withdraw the introductory offer on AC local trains. Due to this decision, the base fare of a single journey will be 1.3 times the base fare of existing first-class single journey tickets from June 1, 2019.

WR officials said that if any commuter purchases a monthly or quarterly pass on May 31, they will be charged 1.2 times the base fare of first-class provided the pass has its starting date as May 31, 2019.

According to a WR statement, on the occasion of commencement of the AC local train on December 25, 2017, it was decided that for the first six months, as an introductory offer, the fares of AC local trains will be 1.2 times the base fare of first-class and thereafter, it will be charged at 1.3 times. The offer had been extended a couple of times in the past and was valid till May 31, 2019.

It has now been decided that the base fare of a single journey will be 1.3 times the base fare of existing single journey first-class tickets. Accordingly, for issue of season tickets, the revised base fare for the AC EMU will be charged.
