Mumbai: A career counselling survey conducted by an NGO of the 12,000 odd class nine students belonging to the city’s civic schools has found that a large number of them were keen on pursuing a career in agriculture.
Earlier this year, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) conducted a career counselling session for class nine students through an NGO.
“There were various sessions held with the students wherein tests were undertaken to understand what their actual field of interest was. Once the same was concluded, the career path ahead for them was explained so that they have a direction,” said an official.
The results of the same were shared with the students, their parents and teachers as well.
The survey found that nine per cent of the students were keen on pursuing a career in agriculture, followed by seven per cent students who wanted to pursue a career in the armed forces and another seven per cent were keen on joining the police force. The para-medical services also rated high.
