Mumbai: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) secretary Vivekanand Gupta has filed a complaint with the state Human Rights Commission (HRC) about Friday’s Kamala Mill fire and Sakinaka fire, which occurred on December 18, claiming that all concerned authorities were responsible for the fire incidents. “The fire erupted due to callous attitude of all authorities so there should be action against these authorities,” plead Mr Gupta in his petition. Commission has decided to hear this petition on urgent basis.

Holding Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), state government, commissioner of police (CP), chief fire officer, superintendent of excise department, senior inspectors of NM Joshi marg police station as well as Sakinaka police station, Mr Gupta has requested state human right commission to call these all authorities and demand the explanations. “In span of just 10 days, two big fires have erupted in city. One in Sakinaka and another is at Lower Parel. At both places, whether authorities had given permissions regarding the safety norms and others need to be checked,” requested Mr Gupta in his plea.

Petitioner has also requested commission to give directions to BMC, state government, CP and CFO about filing details about open space violations, fire compliant, building violations in all commercial establishments.
