Three police officials from Tulinj police station of Nallasopara have been transferred to the control room for allegedly manhandling a 27-year-old man; informed sources. Meanwhile, family members of the youth, Aditya Dongare, have demanded registering a case against police officials in question on Tuesday.
Police sources said that Mr Dongare, a mattress company employee residing with his family in Vasant Nagari area, on June 9 was consuming liquor near his building along with two of his friends. At around 1 am, a cop dressed in civil clothes disturbed Mr Dongare, who, in retaliation, slapped the former. Thereafter, another cop got down from the police van and hit Mr Dongare. Later, the victim approached top police officials and complained that the police had arrested and detained him for three hours along with taking '5,000 from him.
Mr Dongare’s father, Dr Vinayak Dongare, on Monday paid a visit to top police officials and alleged that the cop Shivade along with two others had kidnapped his son, beaten him up and taken his money, later breaking his mobile phone. According to Dr Dongare, his son hit the cop as he was not aware that the person interfering with him was a police official.
A senior police official said that Palghar SP Sharda Raut had demanded an investigation report in the matter, and only after the report was prepared, officials would decide whether they needed to take action against the alleged accused or not. Yogesh Kumar, additional SP of the area said, “After parents of the man filed a complaint, we attached one PSI and two policemen in control.”
