4 NCs unchecked before murders

It is now come to fore that Kanchan Rajge and her family members had registered four non-cognisable complaints against Naseer Shaikh and others including one by Kanchan just an hour before the back-to-back double murders in Khar (east) in December last year.
On December 22, there was a fight between two groups. According to the police, the trouble began when Dinesh murdered his neighbour Naseer who was allegedly having an affair with Dinesh's wife. Dinesh later surrendered before the police. After the incident, a scuffle broke out between friends of Dinesh and Naseer in which Vikas Kamble was seriously injured. Kamble was rushed to a hospital but succumbed to his injuries.
Kanchan said the Nirmal Nagar police made her sit for over an hour and this is when people from the slum came running to inform that her husband Ravi alias Dinesh Rajge, along with others had murdered Naseer, who has a prior criminal record.
Kanchan (25) broke her silence stating, “I had told the Nirmal Nagar police, had they acted promptly and registered an FIR these murders would not have occurred. Naseer used to pass lewd comments and had abused me as well. That night my mother-in-law called on the 100 helpline, after which a constable on a bike came to our slum.”
“But unable to catch Naseer he asked me to approach the police station. They made me and my mother-in-law sit there for over an hour and then people from the slum came running to the police station to inform us that a serious incident had occurred,” she added. A copy of the fourth NC shows the incident occurred at around 11 pm and was registered only the next day.
At around 12.10 am, Naseer was knifed to death alleged by Dinesh, Sagar, Ajay and Vishal as per the FIR registered by Naseer’s wife Shabana. Rubbishing Kanchan’s allegations against her late husband, Shabana said, “It’s true we had a lot of fights with them. But, we thought peace had been made and had no idea so much anger was brewing inside them. They are lying that my husband attacked them with a knife first. The police has made only one arrest, while the rest are still on the run.”
The Asian Age has copies of the four non-cognisable complaints, two of which are registered by Kanchan and the rest by Dinesh and his brother Vishal. The first NC registered by Kanchan was on November 26 when Naseer and three others were booked. “I told them to file an FIR, but they didn’t take cognisance of it,” said Kanchan.
“Guddu, Tinnu, Sikander, Harshad and Daryl are still wanted,” said their lawyer.
