According to the immigration sources, three travellers from Punjab were caught by immigration officials while they were travelling to Lisbon on fake Schengen visas. The trio had booked an Emirates flight from Mumbai, but during the immigration process, officials at the counter realised that their visas were fake, after which the police was informed.

During the investigation, when the Sahar police questioned the trio they said they got the visas from Anand in Delhi. Based on these inputs, the police called Anand to Mumbai. In the meantime, the passengers informed the cops that Anand had taken Rs 70,000 from each of them, while according to the aviation experts price for the same route is below Rs 10,000. Later, on the night of June 12, Anand reached the city and gave his statement to the police after which he was arrested.
