An army recruitment racket, which allegedly spread till Delhi, has been unearthed in Nashik with allegedly 50 candidates being selected throughout the country. The police has arrested three persons and detained two others in Delhi. The issue came to light when army authorities at the Artillery Centre Nashik on August 11 discovered that documents provided by the selected four candidates were fake. Meanwhile, the four candidates had already completed 15 days’ training.
The four were arrested and handed over to the Nashik police where cases have been registered against them. The four accused identified as Balvir Gujar (22), Sachin Kishen Singh (19), Tejpal Chopda (19) and Suresh Mahanto (21) are all from Rajasthan. They said they were selected in Delhi.
Basis this information, the police arrested Giriraj Ghanshyam Chavan of 105 Rajputana Rifles, a resident of Rajasthan. The arrest was affected in Delhi. Chavan has been remanded to police custody till August 29, police said on Thursday.
DCP Srikant Dhivare said a team had detained two persons in Delhi and would bring them to Nashik by Thursday night. “After interrogating the two, we will be able to investigate further. About 50 persons have been selected on this basis,” said Mr Dhivare.
The selected candidates had paid various amounts to get recruited and serve the nation. However, considering the circumstances, this is a breach of national security, said sources.
