The CBI will file a supplementary chargesheet in the RPF fake bails bonds scam after it receives the sanction to prosecute an inspector, one of the accused in the case. A total of 12 RPF officers from Kurla — all currently on bail — were arrested in 2011 for allegedly charging “fines” from railway trespassers and issuing them fake court bail bonds. The scam came to light in 2008 through a PIL filed by activist Sameer Zaveri. “We are awaiting the sanction from the CR to prosecute RPF inspector A.K. Jha (60). After the sanction, we will file the supplementary chargesheet explaining his role,” said a CBI officer. Jha was suspended along with prime accu-sed senior inspector Sanjay Singh after August 2011 when the CBI took over the investigation. According to the CBI, Jha played a “relatively” limited role where the money collected as “fin-es” was deposited with him for safekeeping.
