The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), which is investigating the Sheena Bora murder case will probe why the Worli and Khar police did not register a missing complaint about Sheena. They are also looking into the the dereliction of duty or deliberate attempt made by the Pen police to not register a murder case or even an accidental death report (ADR).

In its chargesheet filed on Thursday, the CBI states that “Rahul Mukerjea tried his best to trace out Sheena” and in his pursuit he “made efforts to lodge a (missing) complaint in various police stations about the missing Sheena but missing persons report was not registered on the grounds that Sheena had gone with her mother.”

Rahul, who was engaged to Sheena, is said to have approached at least the Khar and Worli police stations after her sudden disappearance. But it would not be a stretch to say the police stations concerned either deliberately chose not to help Rahul or did not take sustained efforts to trace Sheena. The police stations went by the claim made by Indrani that her daughter was in USA. A source privy to the probe said, “The CBI will probe all angles. They will also question why the police stations failed to register a missing complaint of Sheena. They will also look into why Pen police failed to register a murder case which was made out prima facie.”

Meanwhile, the CBI on Sunday questioned Rahul as well as Peter. One of the questions asked to Peter was about the passport of Sheena, which Rahul had kept with him for three years. Sources said, “Rahul had told Peter that he had Sheena’s passport (and questioned) how did she leave the country. But Rahul never showed the passport to Peter. He feared that Indrani would take the passport away or try to harm him.”
