The Congress has formed a 15-member joint committee comprising members of both Houses to chalk up an offensive strategy against the government during the monsoon session, which is to begin from July 18.

In its first meeting held at Vidhan Bhavan on Monday, responsibility for various issues was delegated to the committee members. “Former revenue minister Eknath Khadse’s corruption will be on top priority for the party,” said former Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) president Manikrao Thakare.

Speaking with select mediapersons at Gandhi Bhavan on Tuesday, Ashok Chavan, MPCC president, said that it has decided to follow the parliamentary system of the party at the state level. “In Delhi, madam (party president Sonia Gandhi) holds a meeting with the party’s MPs before every session of Parliament. We discuss issues that will be raised in the session. On the same line, our legislative party members will meet before the session to strategise,” he said. Congress has set up a committee of senior members of the Assembly and Council House to take a final call.
