Farmers on way to mantralaya meet with accident, 1 dies

Seven farmers from Aurangabad who were on their way to Mantralaya to discuss food problem in their village met with an accident near Vikhroli on Eastern Expressway on Tuesday early morning.

Seven farmers from Aurangabad who were on their way to Mantralaya to discuss food problem in their village met with an accident near Vikhroli on Eastern Expressway on Tuesday early morning. One farmer was killed in the accident.

The police said all the other farmer had been shifted to a hospital in Aurangabad late in the evening.

According to officials, the farmers had left from Aurangabad Monday evening in their white Scorpio car. They were identified as Bhaskar Kundlik Ahir (52) who was killed, Gorakhnath Ahir (35), Sanjay Babuke (40), Babasaheb Ahire (35), Kailash Pawar (38), Balu Pawar (35) and driver Paduba Rambhau Ghodke (28).

The Vikhroli police sub-inspector Prasad Dhumal said, “A 5.30 am in the morning, when they were near Vikhroli, a cab driver overtook them and their driver Paduba Ghodke could not control the vehicle, bumping into the speed breaker and the car turned turtle on the road. Bhaskar Ahir died on the spot due to severe head injuries

Meanwhile, the police are looking for the cab driver and has registered a case against an unknown person under related sections of the IPC and Motor Vehicle Act.
