Five private buses were gutted in a fire, which broke out early morning on Thursday in a parking lot in Adgaon area of Nashik city, in which property worth lakhs of rupees was destroyed.

The fire started at 1 am and was noticed by a routine patrol vehicle of Adgaon police station. The police notified the Fire Brigade and two fire tenders arrived.

The brigade managed to douse the fire within 45 minutes but most of the vehicles in the parking lot were damaged. A fire tender from HAL also arrived later but by this time the fire had been put out.

The gutted buses owned by Matoshri Travels were on contract to Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL) at Ojhar in Niphad tehsil of Nashik, for ferrying employees. The parking lot is situated opposite Janardhan Swami Math on Aurangabad Road. About 25 to 30 buses are parked here daily. One vehicle caught fire and it possibly spread to other vehicles, sources said.
