The city saw its 35th heart transplant on Tuesday. The donor’s heart was transported from Choitaram Hospital in Indore, Madhya Pradesh to Fortis Hospital, Mulund — a distance of 566 km — in two hours. This is the second organ transfer between Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra. The recipient, a 46–year-old from Alibaug in Raigad, was suffering from dilated cardiomyopathy and had been waitlisted since the past two months. The surgery has concluded and the recipient is stable, doctors said.
