Indrani Mukerjea forced her personal secretary to forge the signature of the deceased Sheena Bora on the resignation letter sent to Mumbai Metro One Pvt Ltd, where the murder victim was working before her disappearance. The claim is part of the statement made by Kajal Sharma, Indrani’s personal secretary and is part of the chargesheet filed by the CBI against Indrani, her former husband Sanjeev Khanna and driver Shyamvar Rai.

In order to prepare a watertight case against the trio, the CBI in the chargesheet has included statements of persons close to the accused.

According to Ms Sharma, who was employed with Indrani’s INX company between 2002 and 2007, she had refused to forge Sheena’s signature but had no choice because Indrani forced her to do so.

“Indrani instructed me to start practising Sheena’s signature so that I can sign the resignation letter on behalf of Sheena and forward the same to Reliance Metro,” said Ms Sharma in her statement. She also told the police that Indrani had called her up from London and asked her to forge Sheena’s signature. Though initially she refused to do so and asked her boss why she wanted her to forge Sheena’s signature, she was told that Sheena was in US and she did not have Internet facility and her office was pressurising her to send the resignation letter immediately. Ultimately she signed Sheena’s resignation and sent it via courier to the Mumbai Metro One office, Ms Sharma said.

Indrani’s former secretary has also told the police that Shyamvar Rai was very close to her boss and she used to assign confidential and personal works to him.

Sheena’s biological father Sidharth Das, who is also a witness, has told the CBI that his daughter had once told him that Rahul was her boyfriend but he did not know who Rahul was. Das said he repeatedly tried to get in touch with Sheena after she went missing in April 2012, but all his efforts were in vain.

Sheena’s father in his statement said he used to be in touch with Sheena and she had once told him about Rahul. “But at that time I did not know who he was and I did not ask Sheena too. I also never asked Sheena about Indrani,” he added.

According to Mr Das, the last time he met Sheena was in August 2010 when he was going to his native place Karimganj from Kolkata. On the way he visited his children’s maternal grandparents house where Sheena informed him that her brother Mikhail Bora was residing in Bangalore. At this meeting he had taken Sheena’s mobile phone number and remained in touch with her but after April 2012 he always found her mobile switched off. “I also sent her several emails but there was no response from her side,” said Mr Das.
