Man wanted for double murder in Bihar held

The crime branch of Mumbai police has arrested a wanted accused who had fled Bihar after killing two of his cousins.

The crime branch of Mumbai police has arrested a wanted accused who had fled Bihar after killing two of his cousins.

The accused Taushiq alias Naseem Siddiqui Ansari was wanted for the last four months by the Bihar police. Recently, the Mumbai police was informed that the accused was hiding in the city. Acting on a tip off, the police arrested Taushiq on Thursday and handed over his custody to the Bihar police Friday afternoon.

According to sources, the crime branch unit 11 received a tip four days ago that a wanted accused in a double murder was hiding in the Azmi nagar area of Malwani. After receiving the tip, the police decided to verify it, so, they deployed a few plainclothes officials in the area for two days.

After keeping a close eye on Taushiq for two days, the police finally detained him at his house on Thursday.

During the police questioning, he revealed he was a Bihar resident and had six brothers. Almost four months ago, he had attended the wedding of his niece along with a brother. His cousins Aslam Ansari and Muzaffar Ansari were also present at the wedding. A small property dispute had been brewing between he cousin for long.

At the wedding, a fight ensued between these three over the issue, and in a fit of rage Taushiq and his brother killed Aslam and Muzaffar. Two other family members then rushed to help Aslam and in the melee, Taushiq got injured. He was to a government hospital for treatment, from where he escaped to Mumbai fearing arrest. In Mumbai, he was staying at the Azmi Nagar area on rent, said the police.
