The Medical Council of India (MCI) has claimed that one of its circulars has been fabricated/forged by certain unscrupulous elements, extending the last date of admission in first-year MBBS courses to October 17, from the original October 7.
The council has said that admissions beyond October 7 in MBBS is illegal, and such students will be discharged. It has also said it is taking necessary measures against unknown persons.
The circular in question was issued on October 10, stating that the last date for admission in first-year MBBS courses was October 7. However, some changed it to October 17.
The notice issued on Sunday, is dated October 21. The notice reads, “A circular was issued by the monitoring section of the council on October 10, regarding online filling of information relating to admissions made in medical colleges for first year MBBS degree for the academic year 2016-17 to the medical colleges of the seven states where the last date if admissions for MBBS course was extended up to October 7 by the Supreme Court. The information in this regard was required to be filled on or before October 14.
No extension has been granted by the council office for filing in the details and any request for extension of time has not been entertained by the Medical Council of India.”
The notice further said that it received an email and on investigating it, the council realised that someone has forged the dates. The notice regarding this states, “They have fabricated the date of issuance of the circular from October 10 to October 17 and changed the last date of making entries in the online filling of information from October 15 to November 3.”
The office of the IMC has said it is initiating legal proceedings against unknown persons.
The notice has further warned that if any medical college makes any admission then it will be termed illegal. Repeated attempts to contact Indian Medical Council representatives got no results.
