The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the World Bank for assistance in order to develop a Regional Information System for Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) and boost the Urban Local Bodies (ULB)s of MMR region.

Confirming the development, Sanjay Sethi, additional metropolitan commissioner, said, “We have signed an MOU with the World Bank to develop a mechanism on the lines of Paris which has system of regional information about what is the reservation of each and every plot and land parcel. This system will help ULBs of MMR with better inputs and data for which the role of World Bank will be assist us in the preliminary groundwork.”

He further added, “This project will boost the ULBs in MMR region, as we have many times observed smaller bodies say in Ambarnath or Kalyan many times do not have exact data of the reservation of particular plots. We will also be carrying a geographical information system survey and conduct the work of mapping. It will be the biggest contribution of MMRDA towards MMR region.”
