Crime branch officials of the Mumbai police are helping the Nashik police find Sajjad Mughal, accused in the Pallavi Purkayastha murder case, who jumped parole in May. Mughal is said to have met his family once after jumping parole.
Mughal was granted 30 days’ parole to visit his ailing mother on February 28, but he did not return to prison even after it ended in March. Prison authorities filed an FIR and asked the Jammu and Kashmir police to track Mogul because he had informed them about visiting his hometown in J&K while taking permission for parole.
However, with no sign of Mughal even six months later, Mumbai police crime branch officials will now assist the Nashik police in tracking him. “The Mumbai police’s crime branch officials have already started assisting in the case. They have taken his last location and are working on a few other links obtained in the course of the investigation. The officials also came to know that he went to meet his family once after he jumped parole but after that, he did not meet them again,” revealed sources close to the investigation.
Mumbai police officers said, “The Mumbai police had handled this case earlier and we had some clues about Mughal. So, we are just helping in the investigation. We will soon find him.”
