The Mumbai-Pune expressway for the second consecutive day witnessed heavy traffic snarls due to breakdown of two vehicles and the ceaseless flow of a large number of vehicles. Traffic started to slow down since early morning between Aadoshi Tunnel and Amrutanjan Bridge in Borghat. It took till the evening for the highway police to smoothen the traffic flow.

“Two heavy vehicles broke down near Battery Hills near Amrutanjan Bridge in Khandala.

“The highway police had to ask for cranes from Pune to remove them . We cleared the vehicles within an hour. But this caused a traffic jam for half an hour,” said Ajit Patil, assistant police inspector, Khandala.

Tourists from Mumbai and Pune are heading towards religious and natural spots nested in the Western Ghats, causing the number of vehicles on the road to increase dramatically.
