Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) will offer a special 25 per cent discount to tourists who vote in the local body elections, 2016-2017.
Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) will offer a special 25 per cent discount to tourists who vote in the local body elections, 2016-2017. MTDC will also help the State Election Commission (SEC) create awareness about voting.
A meeting in this regard was held on Wednesday, helmed by state election commissioner J.S. Saharia; and attended by secretary state election commissioner Shekhar Channe; managing director, MTDC, Dr K.H. Govinda Raj IAS; and general manager, MTDC, Swati Kale.
She said, “SEC of Maharashtra is going to conduct elections between November 2016 and February 2017. MTDC has taken a special initiative to increase the voting percentage in the state. We have suggested to our stakeholders that they undertake various steps to achieve maximum voter percentage across Maharashtra. To boost this campaign, MTDC will offer a 25 per cent discount on stay at MTDC resorts only to customers who have voted. Hence, we appeal to all our tourists to make the right decision! Go Vote!”
Another SEC official said that the meeting was very fruitful. “Voters can avail discount after voting by showing their inked fingers. They can go to any restaurant, hotel, lodges of MTDC to enjoy the discount,” he said.
The main objective was to ensure active participation of stakeholders and guarantee maximum voter turnout.
An MTDC official said, “Voting is a right provided to every citizen. To raise awareness and increase the importance of this right, MTDC suggested to its stakeholders that they promote this campaign by placing signs and banners in the vicinity, showcase the importance of voting and get tourists to use their holiday (read: election day) by participating in the election and casting their prestigious votes.”
