Congress corporator Brian Miranda has demanded that that a plaque, which stands in the middle of Mehboob Studio’s junction, commemorating Salman Khan’s deceased pet dogs, be removed.
In his letter written to municipal commissioner Ajoy Mehta on Friday, Mr Miranda claimed that the plaque was installed by the actor, following a tree plantation drive. Hesaid that Salman’s act is an insult to all freedom fighters, saints, and social achievers. His letter read, “I am a dog lover too but just because it is some rich actor’s pet dogs, its name comes up on a plaque...”
Mr Miranda said, “If there was a plaque installed for dogs who have died in service to police, while doing duty to the nation, giving up their lives while working with bomb squads and in terror attacks, it would have been an honour to them.”
Meanwhile, Salman’s spokesperson said, “An NGO called ‘I love Mumbai’ had donated this mural to the BMC as they wanted to showcase the bond a human shares with a pet animal. It was the BMC’s decision to place it at the Mehboob Studio garden. Salman is not involved with this.
