Though Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh is trying hard to show its affinity to Dr B.R. Ambedkar, Prakash Ambedkar, grandson of Dr Ambedkar, said that the right wing organisation will never be able to digest Dr Ambedkar’s thinking and ideology, as he believed and taught ideology that was against “Hindu dominance”. Meanwhile, RSS hit back by saying Dr Ambedkar was “everyone’s leader’ and should not be tagged as belonging to the ‘left or right’.

On the eve of the 125th birth anniversary of Dr Ambedkar, Mr Prakash, said, “Dr Ambedkar was very much on the left side and the RSS on the other hand is the complete opposite (the stand) of Dr Ambedkar. RSS is very much on the right side. The thinking of both the RSS and Dr Ambedkar are exact opposite to each other.” He was reacting to grand celebrations taken up across the country by the RSS and BJP on the occasion of the 125th anniversary of Dr Ambedkar.

RSS for the first time in its history has planned to carry out processions in various parts of the state to mark the anniversary.

Mr Prakash was speaking at the conversion ceremony of Rohith Vemula’s family where both the mother and brother of the deceased dalit PhD scholar embraced Buddhism. He said, “The RSS is following the policy of where a group of people from a particular caste are dividing the country and is creating chaos in the country. RSS and various organisations affiliated to RSS are adopting the violent way, but we will go the silent way.”

Mr Prakash added it is now for the common man to decide whether to choose an ideology of “fascism by the fascist forces” or to select democracy.

However, the RSS asserted that no one can tag Dr Ambedkar as ‘left or right’. “He is everyone’s leader and it is very wrong for anyone to say ‘tag Dr Ambedkar’. The people who say he was very much towards left are in fact insulting him. Dr Ambedkar was strictly against the thinking and ideology of the leftists. Dr Ambedkar himself was a religious person and a person who is religious cannot be from the left,” said Pramod Bapat, prachar pramukh, RSS.

Mr Prakash said that of late, each and every political party and organisation is trying to prove its affiliation with Dr Ambedkar.

The only reason is that whatever Dr Ambedkar used to preach and predict earlier is coming true, looking at the current scenario of the country, he added.
