A man has alleged that Kandivali’s Shatabdi Hospital’s ‘negligence’ has resulted in the loss of his child. The man and his 23-year-old wife had gone to the hospital late on Sunday after she experienced a stomachache. However, on Monday morning, a sonography test revealed that the foetus was dead.

The woman’s husband said, “On the evening of September 5 I took my wife for a check up as she was complaining about pains. After examining my wife doctors told us to wait for three to four days and advised me to take her home.”

“On the evening of Sunday she started experiencing pain after which we rushed her to the

hospital. She was given a check up on Monday. It took the doctors four to five hours to examine her. After that my wife showed symptoms of crowning and at 6 am they told us be prepared for her delivery. At 9.30 am my wife was rushed to the sonography department, where it was revealed that the baby’s heart was not beating and at 10 they on operated her,” he said. “This is complete medical negligence, and I will file a police complaint,” he added.

However, Dr K.G. Pimple, medical superintendent of Shatabdi Hospital, said, “We gave the woman treatment. We never denied there was an internal complication which may have been the reason why the baby was lost.”
