Temperature to stay high for next few days

Mumbaikars won’t be getting any respite from the scorching heat for the next two-three days, as the temperature will remain high due to the eastern flow of winds. Also, rain has not been forecast for the next week.
Though there was some speculation the temperature in the city might increase further on Sunday due to the equinox, the maximum temperature was 36.9 degrees Celsius while the minimum temperature recorded was 23.8 degrees Celsius. As per the Meteorology department, the temperature will remain within 37 degrees for the coming 2 to 3 days. “Due to the flow of wind in the eastern direction from land, the temperature will remain high for a few days. There is also no forecast of rain so far after that. So, even after the high temperature, there will be no rainfall in the city as per the prediction,” said V.K. Rajeev, director of the Regional Meteorological Centre, Mumbai.
From Wednesday, Mumbaikars might get some relief from the heat, as the temperature might fall by one degree Celsius. The maximum temperature might go down to 36 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature would be around 24 degrees Celsius as per the forecast of the meteorology department. Residents have taken to social media to voice their discomfort. Suman Kher, whose Twitter handler is @Suman_Kher, tweeted, “Wow! Mumbai is a hot furnace. Literally!”
Doctors have suggested people drink adequate water to avoid dehydration and remain indoors during the afternoon, when the maximum temperature is recorded, to avoid heatstroke. “People should drink at least three litres of water and eat fruits to avoid dehydration. And while working outside during daytime, carry an umbrella to protect yourself from the direct heat,” said Dr Pushpa Chauhan, a general physician.
