Taking serious note of the alleged rape of a 12-year-old minor girl at a state-aided residential school (ashram shala) in Buldhana district, the State Women’s Commission has decided to visit all such ashram shalas to review safety measures there. It has also decided to form a committee to suggest measures to upgrade security.
Maharashtra Women’s commission chairperson Vijaya Rahatkar told this paper that a committee will be formed, which will visit ashram shalas from November 10 and will submit a report to the government regarding security measures there. “We are keeping track of the police action in the rape case,” she said.
