Gujarat teen signs Rs 5 crore MoU for production of drones
Harshwardhan Zala, 14, signed Rs 5-crore deal with the Department of Science and Technology, Government of Gujarat.
The government of Gujarat has organised the 8th edition of the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit, between 10th and 13th of January, 2017. The event which is essentially aimed at bringing business leaders, investors, corporations and such opinion makers together, witnessed something quite incredible this time.
A 14-year-old Harshwardhan Zala of Gujarat signed a deal worth 5-crores with the Department of Science and Technology, Government of Gujarat in order to facilitate production of drones that help detect/defuse land mines on war fields.
Zala, who is currently in the 10 standard, had been working on his business plan for a long period of time. The teen came up with three different prototypes of the drone wherein he spent less roughly Rs 5 lakh.
“The inspiration struck when I was watching television and learned that a large number of soldiers succumb to injuries sustained due to landmine blasts while defusing them manually,” Zala said.
“The drone has been equipped with infrared, RGB sensor and thermal meter along with a 21-megapixel camera with a mechanical shutter that can take high resolution pictures as well,” the teen added. The drone also carries a bomb weighing 50 gram that can be used to destroy the landmine.
The zealous 14-year-old has already set up his own company called ‘Aerobotics 7.’
Harshwardhan’s father Pradhyumansinh is an accountant with a plastic company in Naroda and his mother Nishaba is a homemaker.
