Akshay-R Balki's film to be biopic on the 'Sanitary Man'
The story in Twinkle Khanna's book, The Sanitary Man from the Sacred Land,' is based on Arunachalam Muruganantha.
Mumbai: Twinkle Khanna is all set to turn an independent producer with a film to be directed by R Balki and starring Akshay Kumar, Sonam Kapoor and Radhika Apte.
We’d reported that Twinkle is also going to conceptualise the film. Now it’s come to be reported that it would be based on one of her short stories from ‘The Legend of Laxmi Prasad.’
The story, ‘The Sanitary Man from the Sacred Land,’ is based on the life of Arunachalam Muruganantha, who campaigned extensively for menstrual hygiene in rural India.
This, incidentally, is Akki’s second forthcoming biopic, apart from Reema Kagti’s ‘Gold,’ where he’ll be seen playing former hockey player Balbir Singh.
“It’s the kind of film that will appeal to Twinkle’s sensibilities. It will be directed by R Balki and will star Akshay. The concept is hers, and will be developed by R Balki,” DNA quoted a source as saying.
Though the story is hers, she won’t be taking writing credits for it.
That’s one more exciting project in Akki’s upcoming filmography. The actor has already had a phenomenal year with three hundred crore flicks.
