Tourists drag shark out of water to click photos

The helpless shark was surrounded by tourists and lifeguards as it lay on its back fighting for survival.

A shocking video filmed by beachgoers in the Dominican Republic, made its way to the internet, showing a group of tourists dragging out a blue shark out of the water to take photographs with him.

What comes as a shock is that instead of preventing the tourists from doing so, the lifeguards join in the act.

According to a report in the Daily Mail, about seven men dragged the shark out of the water.

In the video clip, the shark can be seen surfing near the shore of the beach when few men approached it. They carefully got hold of the creature and tried to drag it to the shore.

While they were clicking photographs, some of the men placed their hand on the shark’s mouth so as to prevent it from biting them. The shark made several efforts to rescue itself from the tourists — but it failed to escape.

The helpless shark was surrounded by tourists and lifeguards as it lay on its back fighting for survival. One of the tourists posed for a photograph with the shark by holding his tail. The incident took place near the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino.

Condemning the brutal killing of the shark, the hotel authorities tweeted, “As Hard Rock does not condone this behaviour, we are taking this situation seriously. Staff involved will face appropriate action.” In a similar incident early this year, a young Franciscana dolphin lost its life at Argentine beach resort of Santa Teresita when frenzied tourists devoured the innocent creature with their craze to get clicked.

In an attempt at capturing the moment, the tourists yanked the dolphin out of the beach water. Owing to its inability to live outside water for a prolonged period of time, the dolphin died.
