Mystic Mantra: Liberate the man, please!
Everybody is made of male and female chromosomes, without that no birth is possible.
There has been a lot of hype about women’s issues of late. Ivanka Trump, The gorgeous first daughter of the US, propagates that if women are promoted they will bring prosperity for all. The latest miss world, Manushi Chiller advocates the highest salary for mother running the house. Social media is flooded with #MeToo, the call sign of a movement to encourage survivors of sexual assault and abuse to speak up. The campaign was founded ten years ago, but has taken off now to expose the magnitude of the issue, and is provoking society to take steps to stop it. It is great that the hush-hush attitude about this cancerous sore is disappearing and the silent sufferers are speaking out although change seems to be an extremely distant dream. For me, the nagging question remains, why in the first place did it happen? Why was woman oppressed by men to this extent that it has become a dinosaur of a problem?
While the feminist movement has made great strides in addressing the patriarchal mindset, Osho’s vision, as ever, is shockingly radical. He says, “Man suffers from a great inferiority complex because he cannot give birth to children. It is one of the deepest unconscious inferiorities in man. He knows the woman is superior because in life there can be nothing higher than giving birth to life....man has imprisoned women in the house at a great cost¬¬— the cost is his own liberation. Actually, man has suffered more than the woman. If the woman really becomes free men will be free too. It is going to be freedom for both. It is one of the laws of life: the master is always a slave of his own slave, because his mastery also depends on the slave. Without the slave he will not be a master at all. The woman has suffered much, but her suffering has been of a different quality: she has suffered because her freedom has been taken away from her. The man has also suffered, because remember one simple law of life: if you make others suffer, the suffering is bound to rebound on you. Man made the woman a slave physically, and the woman? She made the man a slave spiritually. In fact, man’s suffering has been much deeper than the woman’s suffering.” By repressing the outer woman man has also suppressed his own feminine nature. He denied his intrinsic woman that is an integral part of his existence. Everybody is made of male and female chromosomes, without that no birth is possible. Denying fifty percent of your life energy is suicidal. It is imperative that man needs help to come out of this deep conditioning that he is superior to women. Unless he makes a great effort to get out of this conditioning he will not be free; unless he makes a great, concentrated, determined endeavor that he has to get out of the image of a macho man and absorb the feminine into his being he cannot rest in peace. Survival of human race depends on it.
