Mystic Mantra: Love - The mother of of all virtues
All men are brothers, because God is the Father of Love.
The motif that binds the symphony of faith into a unit of hope is love. Where love is, there God is. All men are brothers, because God is the Father of Love. It is as simple as all that — and is profound. For love is light; light is wisdom; wisdom is power; power is life; life is beauty; beauty is harmony; harmony is love. And this love-in-all-things and all-things in-love is God.
As the Dalai Lama states, “All the major religions of the world have similar ideals of love, the same goal of benefiting humanity through spiritual practice, and the same effect of making their followers into better human beings.”
Love is not directed towards a single person, but towards all humanity, even all of creation. Love is not based on how we are treated by others. Rather, it is unconditional and unlimited in its expression. As one of God’s beloved, a path is opened for his heavenly journey: at the end he arrives at oneness with God, and his whole individuality is dissolved in the ocean of eternal bliss where even the conception of God and man disappears.
Love is always altruistic, given for its own sake, without expecting anything in return. Love is that flame which when it rises, burns everything, only God remains .Love is the attribute of God, who has no need of anyone. To be in love with other than Him is metaphorical love. The union with the ultimate beloved, God, is every person’s goal. We all share the same spark of the divine.
When we live a life devoid of love we live with an unconscious boredom, separated from the deepest meaning of life and the highest moral joys. Those who have truly experienced the electrifying and energizing power of love will tell you that these volcanic busts of ecstasy are possible only if we love others selflessly. That kind of love decenters the self. It reminds you that your true riches are in another. Love is the glue that holds it all together, so when you think your world is falling apart, apply some glue. Love yourself, love the people you love, and also love the people “you hate”. Love them, because love is the greatest healer and your actions, your words, your thoughts could be the saving grace for them. Every human being possesses either a connection with God or a “part” of God. The goal of life, then, is to allow the divine spark to influence us toward love, peace, and harmony. Upon death, the divine spark returns to God .There is an English phrase: a lost soul. But the soul is not lost; it is only buried. When it is dug out divine life bursts forth like a spring. Where is God to be found? He is to be found in the heart of man which is His shrine. But if this heart is buried, if it has lost that light, that life, that warmth what does this heart become? It becomes like a grave. In a popular English song there is a beautiful line which says, “The light of a whole life dies when love is gone.”
