School can be tough and fun at the same time. With schools reopening this week, it’s only fitting to sit down, relax and prep with some shows based on high school — and its ups and downs.

Freaks and Geeks A show that ended too soon with just one season, but earned rave reviews in the early 2000s, Judd Apatow’s Freaks and Geeks is the quintessential show about high-school. A mathlete decides to join a group of misfits while her brother also goes through his own trials in junior year. With a star-studded cast of Linda Cardellini, James Franco, Jason Segel and Seth Rogen, the show received rave reviews and rumours are we might be blessed with a reboot of the classic.

Glee If you were, or are being bullied at school for being yourself, Glee might provide you with some courage to face judgment. The Glee club are a bunch of rag-tag students with just one thing in common — music. The show created a massive fan following of its own, not only because it had all the drama and laughs school does, but also because of their a capella covers of hit songs. It’s the perfect show to get you in the groove and leave you with a smile on your face.

Gossip girl You know we had to! Yes, the rich kids and their first-world problems might not be the most relatable, but with all the gossip and paparazzi surrounding them, you can’t not envy them. Blair Waldorf and Serena Van Der Woodsen are now household names and their lives full of romance, breakups, scandal and general wealth are worth a watch. We guarantee you’ll leave with at least a giant crush on Chuck Bass! Love, Gossip Girl XOXO

Girl meets world Rowan Blanchard plays Riley, the daughter of Cory and Topanga Mathews from Boy Meets World and it is all sorts of adorable. The Disney show shows Riley navigating her years before the teenage plateau. With her dad being her history teacher at school — and her nosy mother keeping an eye on everything — it isn’t easy. Watch for a dose of classic Disney laughs and the joy of seeing your tween years played out in front of you.

90210 Another new-age reboot— 90210 came in 2012 with fresh faces after Beverly Hills 90210 ended. The story revolves around the Wilson family who move from the small town of Kansas to flashy Beverly Hills in California. The small-town kids try to adjust to the daily drama of society in the glitzy city while their parents have trials of their own. The show is replete with snobby, troubled, rebellious teens — just the watch you need before you go back to your own boring school lives.

Awkward This show might just be the nearest it gets to reality. An over-involved mother, a rumour, popular snarky kids and crushes all hound Jenna Hamilton and she gets by with the help of her friends, Tamar and Ming. The characters are slightly larger-than-life, but all of them will strike a chord with you. The writing and development of Jenna is satisfying to watch and makes you laugh at all the awkward moments you’ve had of your own. You can thank us later!
