Doc molested on bus for 2 hrs V.P. Raghu | DC Chennai: A journey on an Omni bus to attend a job interview turned nightmarish for a 24-year-old woman doctor as a temple priest and an engineering student allegedly molested her throughout from Tindivanam to Perungal athur early Thursday morning with neither the bus crew nor other passengers, except for a family, coming to her aid. With no one to turn to the girl suffered as the two abusers even pushed their hands up the sleeveless top she was wearing. Left with no choice, she desperately called her father, a senior government official on her mobile and he in turn spoke to a senior police officer who stationed a police team at the Koyambedu police station to halt the bus belonging to SRM travels and rescue her. “We first picked up Saravanan, 19, a BE student and his friend Guru Shyam, 21, a temple priest, for harassing the doctor and later the bus driver, Gnanadurai, 51 too as he had refused to switch on the light or stop at a police station en route. He instead verbally abused the lady doctor,” the police said. Autorickshaw driver, Sivakumar, who had come to pick up the two accused men, was also arrested for showering the woman with abuse and claiming she was a sex worker whom he had seen at the bus stand many times. “Obviously he was talking without any knowledge of the girl’s background. We decided to arrest him as well,” the police said, adding that to make things worse, a team of lawyers arrived at the Koyambedu police stations within an hour of the two men being detained, to defend them and project the woman they had harassed as a sex worker. The doctor from Thanjavur was still in a state of shock when contacted on Friday and refused to talk about the traumatic event. “Not many victims would have the courage to lodge a complaint after going through the harassment, but she did and so we were able to arrest her tormentors,” said Koyambedu police station inspector Sam Vincent. It was when she was arrested by the police from Kasargod last Saturday that the sorry story came to light. According to the girl's statement, her mother first sold her for money to Jineesh Raj, a neighbour when she was 11 years old and after that to many more \"clients.\" When she refused to do as told her father physically tortured her. The couple was identified as Sanalkumar of Alangad and Siji (27), a teacher at IHRD College at Puthenvelikkara near North Paravoor. The incident occurred at the house of Siji’s parents where the duo had been staying. “Sanalkumar and Siji were staying on the first floor of the house, while the girl’s parents were staying downstairs.
